vintage usa flag indian chief tattoo flash earl brown/bob shaw giclee print

large reproduction "giclèe" fine art archival print of amazing color and design, 12x18 inches, scanned from the original pristine tattoo flash, part of the albert morse tattoo flash archive.

the sheet is signed earl brown, but a tattooer who worked with bob shaw believes the flash was possibly lined by bob shaw and that he possibly even signed (consistent with his writing style) the sheet as earl brown. brown and shaw worked together in kentucky and on numerous occasions shaw co-painted his flash with several other tattooers around a table. in any case, its a gorgeous sheet of flash that appears in a photo with earl brown in a later tattoo shop.

the print was professionally printed and produced on 300 weight, archival, matte paper using only fade-resistant, archival, pigment-based inks. this sheet is the closest to the original sheet as could be possibly made. colors on this one are amazing

Bob Shaw, born 1926, is considered by many to be one of the founding legends of Americana tattooing. Starting his tattoo career with none other than the legendary Bert Grimm, Shaw worked with the greatest names in tattooing including Jack Tryon in San Antonio Texas. (Later he would settle in Aransas Pass, Texas until his death in 1993.) Shaw also worked with Cap Coleman, Earl Brown, Col. Todd, and many others. Later he bought Grimm's famous Nu-Pike shop in Long Beach, CA. Throughout his career, Bob was a prolific flash painter and his tattoo flash is revered and highly sought after to this day. This tiger painting was painted during his years at Nu-Pike. .
