1940s tattooing studio tattoo flash sign by "Dutch" of New Jersey 16x20 giclee print
limited edition to 50, reproduction "giclèe" fine art archival tattoo flash print, 16x20 inches, scanned from original hand painted 14x19 flash board tattooing sign.
the original sign was first thought to be painted by Texas tattooist, Dutch Van Dee. There was info obtained later that indicates it was probably painted by a little known tattooist from New Jersey, also known as "Dutch", who tattooed from the 1930s until the 1960s. in any case, the sign captures the "blood, sweat and tears" of an early hand-made advertisement for a small shop. The original dings and stains were generally left on the print as it seems to add to the realness snd mojo of sign.
the print was professionally produced/printed on thick 300 weight, archival, matte paper using only fade-resistant, archival, pigment-based inks. each print is carefully matched to the original sign/flash, thereby creating the closest print match to the original sheet as could be possibly made. edges were bordered matte black to a standard framing size of 16x20.
